Why locals love it

There are not many corners left of Dublin where you can get a real taste of what city life was like in days gone by. Moore Street is one such place.

Why you should visit it

Generations of fruit and vegetable stall holders have plied their trade on this street, the oldest food market in Dublin. More recent additions to the street include shops supplying the emigrant community from around the world. This has brought a new vibrancy to the area. If a 'chinatown' were to develop in Dublin it would surly start here.

Special tip

The final stand of the 1916 Easter Rising took place on this street. Controversy still rains as to how this should be commemorated properly.

authentic old school Dubs working here selling fruit and veg - listen out for the famous '2 for a pound' calls. I always pass by on my way up to the cinema or to Hop House/Kimchi on Parnell street
