The Bull Island began to form about 200 years ago when port walls were built to stop the Dublin port silting up. Over those years it has grown into what we have today. Locals love using the island for outdoor recreation including walking, kite surfing and when the weather is good swimming.

The island is home to lots of wildlife and there is an interpretative center where you can find out more about the many species that call the island home. There are also two golf clubs on the island. The wetlands are an important migratory bird habitat for birdwatchers.
Its is quite exposed so unless you visit on a warm sunny day bring an extra layer to keep warm
