Why locals love it

Regardless the season, the Botanics are a great escape to admire nature's beauty, have a relaxing walk and enjoy fresh air. You always find something blooming, and colours are especially rich in autumn. From the gardens there is also a nice panoramic view of the city skyline.

Why you should visit it

On a sunny day you can enjoy the great outdoors and the beautiful scenery, while on a rainy day you can escape to the Victorian Palm Houses. The entrance to the garden is free, while a small entry fee applies to the glasshouses.

Special tip

If you are visiting in spring, don't miss the Botanics' unique rhododendron collection.

This should not be missed on a visit to Edinburgh. The botanics is a favourite of both locals and tourists alike all year round. Free entry but donations welcome. Don’t miss the rockery, Chinese and Japanese gardens they are very special.

Free to get in (apart from the hot houses). A lovely place to walk around or lie on the grass in nicer weather. There's a cafe and a restaurant there too.
