Why you should visit it
The palace is full of history being the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. No wonder Karl Lagerfeld chose it as the location of the latest Chanel fashion show. You can also wander around the towers and feel the atmosphere of this ancient site.
Special tip
The castle is mostly roofless so you might want to time your visit for a sunny day.
