Visit Dolly the cloned
sheep
National Museum of Scotland12
Why locals love it
A perfect place for families and a brilliant programme for a miserable, rainy day. From Scottish history to Dolly the cloned sheep, as well as stuffed wild animals you can find here absolutely everything. It's interactive, modern and all the permanent exibitions are free.

Why you should visit it
The museum is housed in two buildings with very different characters. Visit the roof terrace of the new building for beautiful 360 degree views of the old town. Admire the renovated Victorian grand gallery of the old building when having a cake break in the museum café. And don't miss the chance to learn about Scottish history.
Special tip
Avoid Sundays if you don't like busy times.
