Why locals love it
This is a great venue that's been in Edinburgh since the late 70's. It's the only dedicated photography centre in Edinburgh so worth a visit for all photo fans. Locals visit to be inspired by the exhibitions, to make their own work in the public darkrooms and digital facilities or wile away the hours in the library.
Why you should visit it
As well as the exhibitions (which are free) Stills runs lots of talks and events throughout the year as well as specialist photography and film courses. There are darkrooms hidden in the basement which you can sign up to use - perfect if you have a stock of holiday film you want to process yourself before going home!
Special tip
The library downstairs has a host of great photo books. A quiet haven to enjoy a cuppa in the centre of town!
