Why locals love it
The island is located on the Kirkkonummi side in front of Porkkala. Bylandet belongs to the scenic archipelago of Stora Mickelskären and is suitable as a base for boaters and fishermen. Camping is allowed. The tower on the island is under the control of the Defense Forces.
Why you should visit it
Bylandet has a really interesting history. The island has been a rental area of Porkkala since the Second World War until 1956. At that time, the island was the administrative center of Soviet maritime surveillance. As a result, the building stock of its time can still be seen there.
