Why locals love it

The almost natural creek valley is owned by the state as the heritage of Mäkkylä's Puustelli. The creek originates from Painiitty and goes to Monikonpuro. There was a mill on its stem at least in 1750. The hill also had a blacksmith's house and at its foot a Inn on Turuntie. You can see an old dam pool and a hardwood grove.

Why you should visit it

Mäkkylän Puustelli's legacy merged into a horse farm in 1611, 11 years before the founding of Alberga Manor. Mäkkylä became a hereditary riding farm in 1648, when its owner Henrik Joensson was ennobled as Silfverswan. A total of 130 leased plots were plots of land in 1904–35, which formed a large part of the Leppävaara villa settlement.

Special tip

The last and best preserved of these is still Villa Ylänne in a great location on the edge of the former Ring Road I on Mestarinkatu.
