If you have kids in tow and walk through piazza della Repubblica at any point, it's best to just go ahead and let them ride the carousel since they'll probably ask and you'll want to prevent any traveler tantrums before they start! It's actually quite lovely, particularly at night, and makes a great spot for a Florence family photo!
