Why locals love it
La Cité is the Oltrarno's classically anti-establishment cafe, packed with nooks and crannies where you can easily curl up with a book, a computer or a date. By day, it's typically buzzing with Italian students and international creative types who one would assume aren't bound by a strict 9 to 5 work schedule. By night, the crowd is mostly local.
Why you should visit it
On the most basic level, it's just a really cool building where it's easy to feel at home. It's two stories with a hidden little loft area off to the side as well. They've got an extensive selection of books (mostly on music and radical political movements) that you can leaf through for fun or purchase. Expect live music most nights of the week.
