Piazza Tasso is a bit rough around the edges, located just a few minutes' walk from the more photogenic and tourist-friendly square of Santo Spirito. Within the large square there's a mini-park where, typically, rowdy guys gather to play ball games, children climb on the swingsets and slides and neighborhood residents chat on benches.
This is one of the city's most multicultural squares and its rustic, rough-and-tumble feel offers a refreshing break from all of the postcard-perfect, carefully manicured squares, bridges and lookout points that characterize most of central Florence.
Rumor has it that in 2015 the same vendors who sell at the Sunday Santo Spirito market will start setting up shop in Piazza Tasso as well—look for it!
