A fantastic experience for just the two of us with our super amazing guide Caterina Badia!!! With her degree in Classical Art, local knowledge and fun personality, not to mention excellent English, we had delicious tastings in the San Lorenzo food market, a boutique deli and then a restaurant in the main square. Caterina also showed us some off the beaten track churches with ancient frescoes as well as an overview of the Academia and Uffizi and lots of history along the way. Action packed and really really recommended!! We later found out it was our Guide's first day on this tour - and she did an amazing job!

Description

Starting at Santa Maria Novella Square, you'll admire the astonishing Romanesque façade of the imposing church and learn how vineyards dominated the area centuries ago.

You’ll then visit the lively and colourful San Lorenzo Market to sample typical cantuccini, the region’s most famous dessert biscuits. Don’t forget to dip them into some vinsanto (sweet wine)!

Discover the secrets behind the construction of the San Lorenzo church and the Duomo Cathedral before joining a food and wine tasting at Vinaino, a charming shop. You’ll taste the best regional cold cuts (salami, finocchiona, and prosciutto), Pecorino cheese, and Chianti red wine.

On the way to your last tasty stop your guide will share some interesting facts about the most famous Florentine wine producers.

Your gourmet quest will end with tastings of two traditional Florentine dishes, such as pappa al pomodoro and ribollita.
