Our visit will begin at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the first official residence of the family in Florence, with the magnificent Chapel of the Magi, that with the beautiful frescoes by Michelozzo narrates one of the most significant episodes after the transfer of the family in town.
Once out of Palazzo Medici Riccardi we will move to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del fiore, making a quick stop at the one that used to be the Medici's church, San Lorenzo. Some of the most important artists in history, including Michelangelo, worked in this church.
The cathedral, the religious centre of the city, together with the monumental baptistery of Saint John in front of its doors, are custodians of many of the events of the Medici family, but they also hide some of the most beautiful legends of the 15th century.
From the religious center we will move towards the political center of Florence, Palazzo Vecchio, seat of the council of the Florentine republic first, and Medici’s residence then, the palace, along with the piazza in front were the theatres of the most important events in the history of Florence.
Leaving Piazza della Signoria, passing under the Uffizi gallery, we will go towards Ponte Vecchio, the bridge will not be our goal, but the corridor that crosses it above our heads, the Vasari Corridor.
Built in 1565, the corridor led to the last Medici residence in Florence, Pitti Palace.
