Greetings, I will be arriving early am to Ghent via train from Brussels for 1 day. What are the must do things to do? I'm interested in local cultural, food and drinks. And I love to walk. Thanks!

Hi Charlene,

Honestly just walk around in the center. You can't possibly go wrong there. Visit the churches and cathedrals. Ydou can go up the belfort tower. Lots of old buildings that you can visit. Have a drink at the Graslei. For going out you have a plave called the Vlasmarkt.

There are tons of good restaurants but don't use TripAdvisor or so. Just google search them. A little bit outside Ghent you have some amazing restos next tot the river the leie like Au Bain Marie.

There are multiple musea but here google will help.

Hope it was usefull

Thanks! Can I walk from the train station to the city center?
Hi there, it is a good 20min walk to the center from gent sint pieters. It is a good idea to take the public transportation (tram 1 only 5 stops to the korenmarkt).
An other thing u can do if u like art is Smak or for some mideval history visit the gravensteen. Vooruit is a nice venue for party's and an arts center but also a meeting place where u can eat or drink something. It is close to the zuidpark.
Food:
If u like pizza ottomat is a fancy place to eat and it is near gravensteen...but ofcourse there are lots of good redtaurants in Gent...too many to sum up.

But it is true, the city itself is nice enough to wander around, especially if u like walking!
Enjoy your day! U probably find a gem somewhere!
