Why locals love it
Apollo is one of the oldest cinemas of Germany: the former ballroom was transformed in a cinema back in 1906! In the 1970s it seemed it had to close, but a young student proposed alternative, repetitory films and the cinema exists til today! This young student founded and is nowadays the proprietor of Cinemaxx- a big cinema venture all over Germany

Why you should visit it
If you missed a film, you can be sure to catch it up a few month later in Apollo (-: they have special filmseries too, e.g. "MonGay" and "WoMonGay". AND live cabaret. and they are not expensive. They also have traditional films e.g. at every end of the year Harold and Maude..
Special tip
in the courtyard exists a very special vending machine: "Fachgeschäft"- a machine filled with surprises and monthly changing content.
