Why locals love it

Any self-respecting beer connoisseur shouldn't walk past Kaisla. It’s quite large and sprawling on the inside, with a veritable maze of tables in several rooms, but it almost always seems to be full. It’s a popular place for locals on a Friday evening after work...or a Monday...or indeed, any day!

Why you should visit it

A classic pub/beer lounge with a range of excellent beers on the menu. And approximately two choices of wine. But hey, if you want that kind of indulgent, bourgeois beverage, then you shouldn’t be showin’ yer face here with the real people of Helsinki. Nah, just kidding - they’ll humour you amiably enough.

Special tip

Ask the staff for beer recommendations - they know their stuff.

Pricey beers, but not any more expensive than other craft beer places anywhere else in town. The atmosphere, even while the place is packed full of people is always relaxed and fun. Snacks and sandwiches can be found, but again they're a bit pricey but you're not here to eat a meal, are you? Kaisla is part of the S-Group's chain of craft beer bars all around town. In other words it's not a little indie bar, it's run by a giant corporation, but if you forget about that, it's really much cozier than the supposedly hipster Brew Dog pub across town.

I got drunk here once. The bartender told me a charming story about the winter war.
