A quichk and dirty translation: This square is being converted back to act like a hang-around and walk square. There is also planned to be a place for small city happenings.

From the square they are removing the car ramp, which was used by nearby parking hall (previously used by department store Stockmann. Also the bus stops will be removed.

”Square will be built into previous shape and "glory". That will form an extension to the Keskuskatu, which is nowadays a walk only area.”, explains the planning company Sitowise by mr Paavo Åvist.

The basis for planning has been a historical view of the Erottaja Square, made by company Näkymä oy on year 2016. In that planning there is a suggestion to improve and save the culture-historical values.

This square is situated between Pohjoisesplanadi, Mannerheimintie and Eteläesplanadi / park of Esplanadi. Underground there is also a tram power station which was built 1994. That power station is going to be enlargened by local transportation company HKL.

The square will be covered with many different coloured stones, on the Northern side trees will be saved. Southern side trees will be limited from two rows to one row.

There will also be an piece of art on the by swedish sculptor Eva Lange, to celebrate Finlands 100 years of independence ”Kaksi maata” (two countries).
