Though the whole country is usually covered in snow in January, can't promise you snow in Helsinki right now. We're really short on snow at the moment. To be honest, there's none at the moment.

Anyway, let's hope for the best. If you need to stay in Helsinki and as long as it snows in time, you could to take a walk around Töölönlahti (Töölö Bay) and stop by at some café for some warm drinks .

Another beautiful scene to check out could be Seurasaari. Seurasaari is a small island and an open-air museum (http://www.kansallismuseo.fi/en/seurasaari-openairmuseum). If it's been minus degrees long enough before you arrive, you could even walk to Seurasaari across ice - that's something locals like doing on sunny winter days. But bear in mind that the ice must be thick enough before stepping on it. Look if there are other people on the ice (if they can walk on it, you can walk on it) and don't walk near bridges. All together a good fun and unique experience - just remember to stay safe.

If you want something a bit further away from the centre but not as far as Nuuksio, you could take a bus to Lauttasaari and take a walk by the sea.

Hi Emma! In Helsinki city centre the most beautiful scenery is the route from Kauppatori to Kaivopuisto. Just follow the sea and you can also see some beautiful islands. If you wanna have a walk in the middle of the nature, you should head to Viikki, for example Sheep Island (Lammassaari in Finnish) or to Nuuksio (http://www.luontoon.fi/nuuksio) which is one busride away from Helsinki.

Go up more north. It was snowing in November here, but you'll definitely find snow, up north.
