This university owned cafeteria ensures that the youthful student population of Helsinki can keep some meat on their bones even through the harsh winters. They only discriminate the non-students to the tune of a few euros. Unicafe offers large servings of hot food, a salad buffet and bread for around €6, even without a Finnish student card.

If you want to feel like you’re back to school then jump in the queue, tray in hand and pick up your feed - don’t forget your compulsory glass of Finnish milk or buttermilk, you need calcium, you know. The menu is actually usually rather good and even has an extra tasty option that costs a little more.
The cooked smoked salmon steaks in pesto is worth the couple of euros extra. And there’s always a vege option too.
