Kaappi Jouni's Farm Field at the northern end of Lemmenjoki's Sotkajärvi is an important landmark and landscape feature in the area. It is the ancient residence of the famous Sami family. The most famous man in the family, Jouni Aikio aka Jouni Kaapin (1875 - 1956), was the "reindeer King" of his time, head of the family and patriarch.
The farm was founded by Antti Morottaja (1853 - 1907). The estate was founded in the late 19th century and has been continuously inhabited. The last member of the family left the farm in the spring of 2004. The cabinet Jouni farm was acquired by the state in 2002 and is fully incorporated into the Lemmenjoki National Park.
