Lihr's Cliff

Why locals love it

The Lihr Cliff on the southern edge of the Ivalojoki Canyon offers good views of the river valley and the steep slopes bordering it. The rock walls on the banks of the Ivalo River show rock types of the local granulitic bedrock, granite gneiss and quartz diorite.

Why you should visit it

Rock exposures also show the mineral composition of the rocks and their strongly shale structure. Opposite the Lihri cliff, on the other side of the river, in the middle of the wilderness, a group of buildings stands out. Great view to Ivalojoki's Gold Office and it's suspension bridge that was build in 1968.

Special tip

It leads down the cliff from 565 steps stairs.
