Why locals love it

Matti Musta's hut and the surrounding courtyard on the shores of Upper Lankojärvi are one of the most valuable traditional landscapes of the Lemmenjoki National Park. The hut on the field dates from the early 20th century and is now a deserted hut. The small hut was built between 1903 and 1905 and Matti Musta and his family lived there untill 1917.

Why you should visit it

Matti Musta's hut is located on the northeastern border of Lemmenjoki National Park, on the southeastern shore of Upper Lankojärvi. Matti Musta's residential area is a dry meadow cleared of trees and shrubs, which remained open due to grazing, mowing and trampling. The Hut has been build and lived year around living purposes.

Special tip

Matti Musta's residential area was incorporated into the Lemmenjoki National Park in 1981. Metsähallitus renovated it into a desert house in 1994.
