Sheikh Lotfollah mosque is one of the architectural masterpieces of Iranian architecture that was built during the Safavid empire, standing on the eastern side of Naghsh-e Jahan square. Construction of the mosque started in 1603 and was finished in 1619. According to foreign tourists , this mosque is a unique masterpiece of tile art in the world.

Why you should visit it

The tile art used inside and outside the dome of this building has made it one of the most beautiful domes in the world. The world leading architect, Louis Kahn says: "I can only imagine this architectural effect in a dream with just a piece of gold and silver."

Special tip

The peacock is designed at the inner center of the dome, whose feathers are completed by light from the upper arch at the entrance to the mosque.
