Why locals love it
“What the heck is Kokoreç?” I hear you asking. Well, first of all, it’s one of my favourite local dishes! It’s basically lamb intestines wrapped in seasoned offal. I know it sounds strange, but believe me, it tastes amazing (and it’s cleaned thoroughly).
Why you should visit it
Kokoreç is a very local dish that has become the fast food of Istanbul nightlife in recent years. If you really don’t want to try it, Mercan also serves many different seafood snacks that go perfectly with a pint of beer. Mussels, fish, shrimp… You name it!
Special tip
A quarter roll stuffed with kokoreç, a portion of “midye dolma” (stuffed mussels) and a pint of beer – you’re good to go!
