Why locals love it
It's a place where they just have alcohol – no food, no snacks – just booze and popcorn. It's a place to relax, unwind, and talk to the people you're with; it's great for conversation and socialization. I personally am a huge fan of the terrace-like setting that is still isolated, and their good playlists.
Why you should visit it
Not only is the ambiance one of the most relaxed in Kathmandu, it's also a great place to meet other people. The drinks are very reasonable, and they have a solid selection of mixed drinks. More than anything else though, it provides a very social venue, where the only option available is not food, not partying, but your company.
Special tip
Smack right in the middle of Thamel, Sam's Bar can be the perfect start to the night before dinner or after. Remember, they don't serve any food!
