Hello, i am going to Kaunas in a month and i was wondering about the transport there. Is it safe to take a random taxi on the street or do you have a number for calling the official company? And what about busses how does that work?
Thank you :-)

Hi, it is safe to take taxi on the street, however it may be overpriced some times. i suggest using Bolt app - you can order taxi online, see estimated price, as well as driver info, etc. You also can choose payment method - cash or card. If you are ok with driving - try to you CityBee - car sharing service, it is cheap and convenient.

For general information on Kaunas buses please see http://en.kaunas.lt/tourism/public-transport or https://www.kvt.lt/en/.

To plan a trip using public transportation use https://www.trafi.com/lt/kaunas or Google Maps transport features. Taxi is safe, but people use apps like
eTAKSI - get taxi in Lithuania or Bolt for hailing a cab.

Hi.
Best way to get around the city is by buses or taxi.
Random taxi on the street will cost you more, they may take you the longest route possible, but are mostly safe. You may want to use an app "Bolt", which is a bit like Uber and easy to use, no cash required if you include a card for payment, and most of the time you pay a fixed price no matter the route they take, so they can't trick you.
For buses I would advise getting and app "ziogas" which let you pay for a ride with a debet/credit card, all you have to do is enter the number of the bus/trolleybus that is on the side (differs from the route number) or scar the QR code. Otherwise you purchase a ticket on the bus from the driver, ~1€. For timetables and other info I would recommend a "Trafi" app.
For sight seeing you can use Citybee bikeshare app or Bolt electric scooters.
