Enjoy 2.5 hours long tour
Description
During the tour you will see Kaunas Old Town and Liberty Boulevard. Tour lasts around 2 hours and 30 minutes. During the tour you will cover 3-4 km of distance by walking. If your group is up to 4 people you also can choose Kaunas IX Fort Museum as Bonus (I work there as tour guide). During the booking process I will ask you about this Bonus option and I will explain how it would work. Bonus option is available on for up to 4 people, because we would go to IX Fort Musuem by my car.
Tour begins from Kaunas Castle and at first we will go through Old Town. You will learn about strategical importance of Kaunas during the Middle Ages. Also, you will see many churches, monasteries, Thunder house and the longest bridge in the world. This part takes around 1 hour.
Then we will continue to New Town (Liberty Boulevard) through Vilnius street. During this part of the tour you will see these main objects in Kaunas New Town:
• Governor’s Palace – magnificent 19th century building in cozy park.
• Nicholas’ boulevard – the most important street in Kaunas New Town, full of important public buildings.
• Kaunas theater – place of cultural life of early 20th century Kaunas.
• Kaunas Sobor – stunning Russian Orthodox church, visible in all New Town.
This part of tour lasts around 75-90 minutes. If your group is bigger than 4 people or you decide not to go to IX Fort Museum, then the tour end near Sobor. If you will choose to go to IX Fort Museum, then we will have to get back to my car near Kaunas Castle (we can do it by walking or by taking public transport), because I park near Castle.
The tour in IX Fort Museum would take place in territory, not inside the museum building. We would go around the fort and in the emorial complex area. There will be no posibility to enter museum building, because this Bonus option I offer on my free days when museum is closed. After the tour I would bring you back to the place where you would want to go back. Please, keep in mind that this additional activity is not included in price.
