The about 20 kilometers long Aatsing's grave east of Sallatunturi is a good example of the different abrasion resistance of rock types. The Aatsing's grave was created about millions of years ago, the present valley was eroded by erosion and the consumed of ice age.

Why you should visit it

The present Valley has as well the sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks, the place have n´been volcanically active before. There is a height difference of more than 250 meters between the Sotkajärvi surface that lies at the bottom of the Aatsing's grave and the highest hill top of the ravine, Petservaara.
