The Puikkola house group reflects the village settlement that emerged in the mid-18th century outside the riverside settlement of Kemijoki. Puikkola's building stock is well-preserved Peräpohja rural construction from the 19th century. Puikkola farm was founded in 1759.
Puikkola's Pekkala main building was built in 1893. The building served as a village school in 1935-46. Pajari's main building was built in the 1850s. During World War II, about 70% of the buildings in the Kemijärvi area were destroyed. The building stock of the village, which was located on the sidelines it was saved.
