Why locals love it
Come and visit the indigenous people of the Nordic countries, the Sami. The Samiland exhibition tells about the history, culture and mythology of the Sami people over thousands of years. In the indoor exhibition you will learn the difference between Skolt Sámi and Fell Sámi, like traditional Sámi livelihoods and ancient story characters.
Why you should visit it
The outdoor exhibition introduces you to Sami buildings and reindeer herding. Samiland is an exhibition complex that is part of the UNESCO Observatory's cultural village program, which includes an indoor exhibition area of 500 m² and an outdoor exhibition area of 10,000 m². Samiland was opened in December 2011.
Special tip
All exhibition texts are in Finnish, English and Russian, and the texts of the exhibition are translated into German and French.
