Why locals love it
The length of the Sätkenä's Bear Trail is 3 kilometers and the trail is relatively easy to navigate. There is one slightly steeper uphill along the trail. Trail is easy to hike, fallen trees on the path have to be dodged somewhat. The route was opened in 1996.

Why you should visit it
Sätkenä is a research forest, which belongs to Metla's research forests. Forests were established for field trials related to forest and environmental research. The upper part of Sätkenävaara burned in the late 19th century, after which the area was cultivated with birch. The area is studying reforestation and birch seed production.
