Särestöniemi museum is located in Kaukonen village, Kittilä. The way to the museum is guided by Särestöniemi-museo sign on the main high way. GUided tours are arranged to learn more about Särestö farm life and Reidar Särestöniemi's colourful art as his life.
Reidar Särestöniemi (1925-1981) is one of the best known Finnish artists and was the most remarkable Lappish artist of his time. Reidar was born as the youngest child in the family Kaukonen, later the family changed their name to Särestöniemi. Söreistöniemi Estate is his home as well his Ateljee.
Museum is about 1 hour drive from Levi or 1h 15mins from Ylläs. Guided tour is 40 euros per group + the entrance fee, duration 1,5 hours.
