The Kohtla-Järve culture centre was built in 1952 and with its renovation in 2013/2014 it's one of the best preserved examples of Stalinist era architecture. It's also the home to a variety of different choirs, dance and drama groups, bands and orchestras. Its enormous chandeliers are a sight on their own.
Get a glimpse of the peak time in Kohtla-Järve's history, when the simple miners and factory workers were honoured like kings and this culture "palace" was just one of the many gifts of Soviet powers to the town's people. Should you visit during a dance show you're in luck, because some of those groups are highly valued in the whole country.
Ask the lady at the reception whether there is anyone present to give you a tour, otherwise wander around yourself in the rooms open to public.
