The family owned Ašot cooks up the most delicious Armenian kebabs and grilled meats in the area. Some locals dare to say that they haven't gotten better lamb "shashlyk" even in Tallinn or St Petersburg – that's gotta count for something, right?
Kohtla-Järve is not a town that stands out with glamour and style, so you'll get a real local experience by entering this uninviting tin box they call a house and listen to the tacky Russian and Caucasian pop music blasting from the radio, but the food is honest and brings regulars back there again and again.
Try the lamb shish kebab and don't forget to walk up to the bar to order!
