On the shores of Pikku-Taapalompolo, between Taapajärvi and Nuottavaara, you can find the hermitage of Heikkinen. Eemel Johan Antinpoika Heikkinen, born in 1877, lived there. There are two apartments in the yard.
The cabins on the yard have everything to survive in the wild, as well the area is good for fishing, hunting and berry picking. Heikkinen did all sorts of woodwork by selling them he was able to buy necessities from the Village. Reindeer herders found him dead in 1945. The area has been restored and the location is good for hiking.
A guided forest car route turns from Nuottavaara, Kienajanseläntie. Roads can be difficult to navigate.
