Why locals love it
Ore quarries related to the history of iron production in the iron works on the Swedish side have been preserved in the area of the municipality of Kolari on the of Juvakaisenmaa in the River Niesanjoki and coal mills in Lappeankangas.
Why you should visit it
The Kaaraneskoski blast furnace, was the only one that became reality from the plans, is the northernmost blast furnace in the 18th and 19th centuries related to the early processing of rock ore and part of the larger blast furnace chain associated with the Könkänen ironworks during the Swedish rule.
