Kuerlinkkas are two water-rich waterfalls in the municipality of Kolari near the village of Äkäslompolo. The waterfalls are located on the southwest side of Kuertunturi in the flowing Kuerjoki River. About half a kilometer before flowing into the nearby Äkäsjoki, Kuerjoki forms two consecutive falls: the upper and lower Kuerlinkka.
Easy to view and photograph from a rocky plateau by the river. There is also a (probably unofficial but functional) campfire site. The name Kuerlinkka is of Sámi origin, and when translated directly means trout drop (Kouderlinkka). Sea trout were caught from the falls by container fishing. It's a centuries-old tradition, that ended 1950's.
Kuerjoki River has also been an important support channel in recent decades, although all remnants of swimming activities have disappeared over time.
