I am coming from Kerala to Shalimar, Kolkatta first time for an interview on March 2020. I have to lodge near by Shalimar railway station and planning to stay there for 3 days .Return journey also from Shalimar Railway Station. Booked to and fro train tickets. I wish to go for sight seeing around Howrah and Kolkatta within this short period of time. My choice only local non A/c buses/Trams to travel around the city. There is frequent bus services from Shalimar railway station to Howrah and return.? I am willing to spend low budget level cost. So reply me your valuable advice accordingly.
Please suggest me the things what to do..? and how to do..? Kindly suggest me low budgeted lodging/hotel near by Shalimar railway station (range Rs 500 to 800)
Thank you

its a quite busy station and there are lots of travel and hotel options, you'll see. nearest must see spots are botanical garden, howrah bridge, indian museum, victoria, alipore zoo, all ways are routed through howrah station and howrah bridge. tram services are cut off at places but you can visit the tram terminus at dharmotolla, all expenses are well within your budget. welcome and goodbye.

First of all - I would recommend you to call this city - Kolkata and not Kolkatta.
You can take the heritage walk in Kolkata. https://www.heritagewalkcalcutta.com/
You can go to Kolkata's Esplanade and Park Street. You can see a loads of nice restaurants to eat out in Park Street.
You can go to China Town (between Park Circus and EM Bypass) for delicious Chinese food.
You can go to Jorasanko's Thakurbari (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g304558-d3218644-Reviews-Jorasanko_Thakur_Bari-Kolkata_Calcutta_Kolkata_District_West_Bengal.html) if you are interested.
