Not many cities can boast with hosting a Russian Czar but Kotka can! Langinkoski Fishing Lodge is set an impressively scenic spot by the Langinkoski rapids. Famous for its salmon and great paths and wooden bridges to stroll, it's a treasure for any nature-lover.
Alexander lll first visited this spot in 1880 and soon after the fishing lodge was built. The lodge fits in perfectly in the landscape and there is an orthodox chapel and arboretum in the vast area surrounding it. The views are spectacular and free of charge. You only need to pay a fee if you want to see the lodge from inside.
There are some trenches built by both Russians and Finns in the area.
