Much of Krakow's history is steeped in legends and this figure is a representation of one of the most famous legends of the shepherd, who would later become King Krak, and the fire breathing dragon he slayed to become king.
The dragon lets out a flame of fire every few minutes and is a great photo opportunity whether you're a couple or a family. Children especially enjoy waiting for the dragon to breath fire. A trip to Wawel isn't complete without seeing the dragon.
The dragons lair which is a cave beneath Wawel Hills and which served as a pub with a bad reputation in the 16th and 17 centuries is worth a visit.
