Krakow - previous capital of Poland, one of the most important cities in our country. Wawel castle is the place, from where most of the polish Kings ruled our country. Nowadays most of them are buried in the Cathedral. Krakow was lucky because it wasn't destroyed during the Second World War.

gingerbread vodka
Brilliant tour - gave us an insight to Krakow that we wouldn't have got any other way. Luckily we were the only ones on the tour - it was very personalised.
Saw much of the old Krakow that is on the road less troden that few other tourtists would experience. Gingerbread vodka and dumbling jars one of the many indellible memories. thanks so much, we're still talking about the day some weeks later.

Kamila is a great guide and knows a lot about Polish craft beers. All the beers we had were delicious and the locations were super cool. Highly recommend!

Discover how much he did to save the Jewish people
This museum covers the Nazi occupation of Krakow during World War 2. It shows how Oskar Schindler treated the Polish and Jews he employed and what he did to save as many of them as he could. When you first start your visit there is a cinema where a few of the Schindler Jews tell what he did to help them and save them. You start on the second floor and work your way down. There are lots of displays and videos of people describing what life was like during the occupation. This museum has wheelchair access and you can pay for a guided tour even though all displays have Polish and English descriptions. There is only a slight mention of the movie Schindler's List and that is right at the end near the cafe. A limited number of free lockers are available for you to store bags and jackets during your visit. Purchase your tickets in advance as those people are let in first. If there are any spots left then walk in visitors are allowed. We didn't purchase tickets in advance but got there 20 minutes before opening time so were near the front of the queue and were allowed in. We did hear people saying the museum was full by 11 am the previous day and lined up early this time. The #3 tram will get you from the old town across the river to the museum. Get off at the first tram stop after you cross the river and exit to the right behind the tram. Follow the signs on the street poles for a short 5 minute walk to the museum. Allow around 3 hours to properly visit the museum. Entry to the factory is free on Monday but is closed the first Monday of each month.

First class service, food and drink throughout!
Really enjoyed this. We chose the Vodka tour as we have a mild interest in Vodka enough to warrant the tour.
We were lucky enough to meet Ania who we can't thank enough. It was myself and husband and we thought just the two of us on the tour along might make the evening conversation strained however Ania not only spent her time chatting about the various types of Vodka but also went into extensive detail on each meal that accompanied the Vodka and also gave us an insight into Polish life, family and traditions. We got so much out of the tour it acted nicely as a snippet of Poland in general.

The evening started in a traditional bar where we were served two shots and food. We then moved onto a really unusual shop / bar whereby there were over 60 types of flavoured Vodka to choose from and we were able to try a few. Favourite being Granny Vodka (cherry) and dare I say it Pepper flavoured. We fell in love with the concept of the store and it helped us appreciate the many types and traditions behind it. Next we went to another traditional bar and was served more food - enough to feel full! All traditional polish dishes. Finally we moved onto a similar concept to a Speakeasy bar that was very 'in fashion' and were treated to a choice of coctails to finish the night off.

In total we tried over eight different vodkas and five food types.

This for me was a highlight of the trip and is a must for anyone new to Poland wanting to experience the culture.

First class service, food and drink throughout!

The first tour was the Old town walking tour, our Guide for this was a very knowledgable guy called Jack. We had eight people in this group which was very manageable to keep everyone together as with the free walking tours the groups were huge and people drifted away from the group!! The tour shows the historical buildings and churches a climb up to the Wawel Castle which was breathtaking. The tour takes about three hours but plenty of stops to hear the comments from Jack who was more than pleased to answer any questions. We had our father who had difficulty in walking but managed to keep up with the rest of the group. I think it is a must to go on these tours to find out as much information as possible. The second walking tour was around the jewish quarter which I found more interesting, being shown around where schlinders film had been filmed in the Kazimierz part of the town. We were shown the most popular synagogues and learning the history of the Holocaust. We ended up at the schlinders factory on the other side of the river and saw where the ghetto was. The tour ended at the factory where you could purchase the tickets. This tour was again with Jack, again very very interesting experience.

My wife and I took 2 tours with this company last week. The first was the Auschwitz and Birkenhau Tour. We were well looked after by the Discover Tour guide and driver. When we got to Auschwitz we were handed over to one of their tour guides. I believe her name was Anna. She looked after us for the Auschwitz and Birkenhau part. She was a very good tour guide who spoke good English. She had a passion in what she was telling us and was very emotional with it. She was very knowledgeable about the 2 sights and was not following a script like some tour guide do. The next day we went with Discover Cracow to the Salt Mine and once again we were well looked after. The company tour guide took us through the Salt Mine with one of the Salt Mine guides and once again we were provided with detailed account of the history of the mine. Both the Auschwitz and Salt Mine tour are well worth doing whist in Krakow and in my opinion Discover Cracow is a good company to do it with.

Extraordinary
I have rarely seen anything this extraordinary. You start by going down a 'spiral' staircase that is square in cross-section and which seems infinite. There follows a 2 km walk though tunnels that frequently widen into display areas, chapels, ponds, son et lumiere, caverns. It is one wonder after another, difficult to encapsulate in words or pictures. The return to the surface is, mercifully, by a fast lift. Salt carvings, salt chandeliers, Salt statues. Goethe apparently called it a 'wonder of the world' in the 1790s - I have to agree with him. Our trip was marred slightly by a guide who thought that his role was to tell jokes rather than introduce the mine - but the sheer profusion and scale of the exhibits shone through his frail ego. I overheard other guides who were excellent. It is absolutely fascinating - please go! I went as part of a group - a category not included below in trip Advisor's list, so I have had to tick 'solo'.

Great food tour in Krakow!
This food tour was definitely a highlight of my Krakow trip. It exposed me to different Polish dishes, from the traditional to the modern. It started off in Kazimierz and ended up in a neighborhood a little on the outskirts of the Planty. The tour guide Maurycy was very knowledgable and personable. He made the tour very enjoyable and provided a good insight into Polish culture as well. There is quite a bit of walking and towards the end the pacing of the restaurants are little rushed. The next restaurant was literally across the street so there was no time to digest the previous restaurant's food, but this is probably a minor critique to a great food tour.

Great hosts, great experience and great Beer!
Just a fantastic little tour of 3 Local Pubs/Brewery's.
Goksel emailed me a few days before we arrived to ask how much we knew about the Craft Beer movement. This meaning they could tailor the tour to our group.
Our guides on the tour were Kamila and Goksel, they really were the stars of this tour. They made our evening fun and informative.
A Great selection of tasty beers and nibbles were ahead for us over the 3 hours.
The tour was paced perfectly and was very laid back which helped the atmosphere in our group.
I highly recommend booking this tour of you enjoy beer or a smaller stag/hen trip.
Kamila and Goksel THANK YOU!!

Excellent overview starting with the beginning of WW 2 in Poland
All of the guided tours were filled. We obtained our self guided tickets at the ticket office at the back of the Cloth Hall with a set time to arrive. We were so glad we were not with a guided tour. Everything has written explanations & you can go at your own pace. Actually when there is a group it tends to clog up the path as at some places the path is narrow. The museum is not just about the story of Oskar Schindler. It tells the story of Poland & the Jewish people. Some pictures & sounds were graphic but you leave knowing the truth about the suffering of the people.

Awesome tour!
Ticket line incredibly long. Arrived without pre purchased tickets early afternoon, one ticket window open only, on line probably an hour behind possibly 150people. Took English speaking tour. Guide extremely knowledgeable. Wear sneakers! Cobblestone-like walking surface leads to tired feet. Beautiful, beautiful, carvings etc. very informative and amazing tour. We didn’t eat at restaurant but food looked and smelled delicious. Don’t miss museum tour at end. More to see outside mine when you exit. Leave a little time to walk around outside. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed a great food tour with Tamara from Eat Krakow. We covered Polish street food, markets, casual and fine dining as well as dessert. Needless to say, we were pleasantly satiated! Tamara was an excellent tour guide and a passionate foodie - it's clear she loves her work. She kept the group moving at a good pace and was full of information about Polish cuisine. I recommend doing the tour at the start of your time in Krakow so you can take up her wonderful suggestions!

Great experience
I'm so glad we paid for this and didn't just go to the factory on our own. The guide turned up bang on time and was really knowledgeable, spoke good English and told us so many facts as we went round. Its not just about Schindler, we were immersed in the horrible history of the war. Really recommend this trip. Also note that if you want to go without the pre booked guided tour they only allow so many in each day so you need to get there early.

Following the film...
An excellent guided tour! Thank you Anna. Very informative and the personal touch , stories of your grandparents was appreciated. We learnt far much with you than if we had gone round on our own. I can't quite believe how quickly Krakow was occupied over that week in September 1939. And how people were treated.

I'd recommend this tour to anyone visiting! Popped next door to the art museum after for coffee and cake! Nice.

Wow!
This is a must visit. It totally explains what happened before the holocaust really took hold. The story of everyday people and the changes made to every single life.. everyone was effected in some way. The very beginning through to the end of a terrible era of atrocity... we had a superb guide called Anya who explained it all and really brought the brutality Home to us. I would recommend a guide wholeheartedly

Amazing underground complex
The must do if you are in Krakow. The tour is about 3km walk through the network of caves - you start by descending approx 60 meters via wooden stairs so get ready for some physical excercise. The caves and corridors, which were created in the past 500 years of salt mining is a unique sightseeing - some of the rooms can accommodate hundreds of people. It is an exciting excurse to the history of salt mining.

We booked through the hotel on arrival into Krakow to go to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines. It was brilliant value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed the trips. Auschwitz was very emotional but something that everyone should visit if they get the chance.
The Salt Mines were amazing although be aware of the 380 steps down straight away and then a couple of hundred after. You do get a lift up (thank god).

CRAFT BEER TOUR KRAKOW
The decision to go on the craft beer tour of Krakow was a great one. With the fantastic and helpful Sebastian as our host we were guided through the streets of Krakow's jewish quarter sampling some of Krakow's finest beers as well as some more international ones too.

I would thoroughly recommend the tour - it was both fun and interactive and the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.
