Poika ja Ilves is an adventure film about youth, friendship, nature and adventure story for the family. The film was originally made in 1998, and was digitize support of the Finnish Film Foundation in 2019. The film features the Väinö the Lynx (1996-1999) of Ranua Zoo, who died in an accident after the film was completed.
12-year-old Tomi moves with his father from the south, to Lapland. The father is an animal scientist who has been tasked research to adapt a domestic lynx to the wilderness. The research fails and freed Lynx is endangered to die, desides Tomi to rescue his friend the Lynx. During the rescue, Tomi must survive alone in extreme natural conditions.
