Päätalo Center is for the writer Kalle Päätalo's visual studio and an exhibition about his life. In the exhibition, just as in Kalle's books, the lives of local people and the recent history of Finnish everyday life are transformed into living stories. Exhibition tells a story of Kalle Päätalo is also a tribute to forest workers.
In the 1920s and 1930s, it was obvious that men would earn a living from the forest. So Kalle too followed his father on his way to the forestry business. At the age of 13, Kalle had to take responsibility for the livelihood of the home and started making bread for the whole family. In 1939 Kalle joined to army.
The Päätalo exhibition consists of a permanent Kalle Päätalo visual studio and an annual photo and exhibit exhibition.
