Pyhävaara is located south of Rukatunturi. On the top of Pyhävaara, in 1830, there were seits, a holy stone, from which the danger must have been named. In ancient times, Pyhävaara has been an important holy place for Lapps. The bare rocky wall facing the evening sun is quite respectable.
Recommend that you do not move on the Pyhävaara area except on marked routes, as the rock area is dangerous and there are endangered plants.
