I love visiting interesting parks and gardens while travelling, and I know that the best ones are often hidden. Are there any that are particularly special?

Hi! There are several parks. New Iberia has Rip Van Winkle gardens, the pond at UL is not a big greenspace but is guaranteed alligators, Lake Martin is a beautiful place to birdwatch, they even have a rookerie, Acadiana Park has a ranger station, and Girard Park is a nice one for kids and in the city. Moncus Park is the newest. I hope this helps!

If you are willing to travel an hour or so out of Lafayette, Avery Island Jungle Gardens is beautiful and not too far from there you can visit Jefferson Island for Rip Van Winkle Gardens. You’ll have to visit Lafayette again once construction is complete at our brand new Lafayette Central Park.
