Why locals love it

It is considered has one of the most important works of engineering in Portugal (19th century) and here it’s possible to catch the train to Sintra village, leaving Rossio through a tunnel that was escavated under the city (around 2600 meters long).

Why you should visit it

The station was designed between 1886 and 1887 by Portuguese architect José Luís Monteiro. It has a beautiful Neo-Manueline façade where you can observe two intertwined horseshoe portals at the entrance, the clock in a small turret and the abundant sculptural decoration.
