Why locals love it

Old men like to come to the garden to play cards, families with their kids that can play in the playground, couples sit in the shade of the old cypress with more than 100 years, which is a spot to visit. Saturday mornings is the day to buy fresh fruit and vegetables at Biological Products Market.

Why you should visit it

This romantic garden was built around 1853 and is organized around a large octagonal lake with a fountain. After visiting Chiado or on the way there, stop at this garden, have a drink at the Refreshments' Kiosk or at the Esplanade. Also last Saturday and Monday of the month, there is the Urban Craft Fair.

Special tip

In the basement of the garden, exists the Patriarchal Reservoir, designed in 1856 by the French Mary, engineer inspector of Seine’s department.
