The name of the park, José Gomes Ferreira was given to honor this writer and poet. The park is also called Alvalade woods, being a network of walking paths, picnic area, children’s playground and fitness circuit.

Why you should visit it
At “Esplanada da Mata”, many events take place, such as films, themed parties, yoga, live music, workshops and fairs. Also you can play a board game or read a book from the shelves (bookcrossing being practiced). Meanwhile you can enjoy a currant’s refreshment with rosemary or try a toast in bread from Alentejo (better than airport’s food).
Special tip
The airport is very close, you can even walk there; so take a last moment in Lisbon, relaxing in this esplanade in the middle of green.
