We booked the Sintra trip and had Manny as our driver and guide. We had a fantastic day out which started at 9am and finished at 6:30pm! Manny was great fun and very keen to share his passion and knowledge of his home area with us as we went through the day. The trip was relaxed in that we spent as much or as little time as we wanted at each of the stops we made. We visited the Pena Palace in Sintra which was fabulous and we were lucky enough to enjoy the spectacular views back to Lisbon. We highly recommend this trip and well done to Manny for a highly informative, interesting and enjoyable day.

Description

Nestled in the green hills of the Portuguese countryside, Sintra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its 19th-century Romantic architecture.

Your tour begins at the Pena National Palace – a beautiful part of the town’s cultural landscape. After visiting the palace, you’ll head down to the village of Sintra and discover why it’s one of the most charming places in Portugal.

Also included in the tour is a visit to the Quinta da Regaleira – one of the most surprising attractions in Sintra. Built in 1892, its unique architecture and romantic gardens are delightful. Fountains, ponds, grottoes and statues of gods can all be found on the grounds of this one-of-a-kind estate.

The next stop is Cape Roca – the westernmost point of Europe. Explore Guincho Beach and its impressive sand dunes, and admire the rare beauty of the Boca do Inferno – an open cave sculpted by the restless Atlantic waters.

The tour concludes with a stop in Cascais by the Tagus River. Enjoy the local ambience of this small town before returning to your hotel.

I booked this tour for a group of 4. We were greeted by Manny at our ship. Instantly we knew it was going to be a great tour. He was so knowledgeable, charming and helpful. We went to Sintra first. It was amazing. We got there just when it opened which was perfect because we were able to see everything easily and take beautiful photos. We stopped at a lovely pastry shopped afterwards where he treated us to a love pastry which the locals call "pillows" - delicious. We drove along and saw magnificent views. Manny was an excellent driver also. We went to a garden where there were chapels and towers and a lake and beautiful greenery. Onto Roca de Cabo which is the cape on the Atlantic. Next stop was the lovely town of Caiscais. Beautiful views of the ocean and very quaint. Last stop was for some Gelato - yummy. We could not have had a better day. Thank you Manny for making it so special.
