Description

Dive into Lisbon's greener side on this private walking tour through the city's hidden gardens and stunning parks. Snap photos of ivy-covered statues, look for burbling fountains, and learn about the history and heritage of each spot you visit, from its architectural style to its cultural influence.

Join your guide at the tour office in the city center, where you can chat about the day's itinerary and plan out a route through the parks that interest you most. While stops vary based on the season, you might swing through the University of Lisbon's botanical gardens, take in sweeping views of the city's terracotta roofs from Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint, or uncover hidden and private gardens few tourists ever get to see.

Chat about the architectural influences on different garden features, representing styles that range from Gothic and Renaissance to Rococo and Manueline. Learn how the initiation rights of the Knights Templar and Freemasons might have inspired green-thumbed gardeners to alter their designs, and don't forget to ask for tips on other verdant gems to scope out during your stay before you part ways with your guide.

What a wonderful time in magic Lisbon

Secret lisbon gardens
My feed back: Our tour was on a Saturday, when yr office is closed apparently. It was hard to find yr location and we had trouble with phone communication so were VERY happy when we arrived and found our tour guide. We loved walking around and the historical info our guide gave us, and really appreciated the cup of coffee and water! We had a different expectation of " tour of secret Lisbon gardens ", and so were disappointed. I think you have to call yr tour : A walk through public parks. Having worked as a garden designer/landscape architect in the US and the Netherlands for the last 30 yrs, I expected more knowledge about the various trees and shrubs and growing conditions, more about what is going on in the landscape architecture world of Portugal, in short more about gardens and gardening.
